The Inaugural Helford River 10k – Sunday 28th May 2017

 

This race is being organised to raise funds towards building our clubhouse at Truro.  This will be a Group B race as detailed in the MRC regulations.  Membership of the BC or SLSA is not necessary to take part, and you only need to be able to paddle 10km. K1s, K2s, Sea Kayaks and Surf Skis all welcome.

 Venue:        Gweek Village Hall, Gweek.  TR12 6UG

We have use of the village hall facilities ie WC and kitchen, but          there are no changing facilities.

Parking:     The village hall car park is not very big, however we have an arrangement to use the Seal Sanctuary car park for which there is no charge and is adjacent to the village hall.

Course:      The course will start and finish at Gweek with one turn at   Polwheveral Creek which will be clearly marked with a buoy.

 

Start:          There will be one mass start for everyone.

 

Timings:     Check in                    16:00

Briefing                     17:30

Start                           18:00

Access to the River:    Access to the River will be from the Village Green.

Rules:          MRC Rules will apply.  Racing numbers will be supplied.

Safety:        There will be a safety boat in attendance.

Buoyancy aids are compulsory for all paddlers in Divisions

7, 8 and 9.  The race organizers reserve the right to mandate all racers wear buoyancy aids.

Fees :           £7.50

Entries:       By email via trurocanoeclub@0utlook.com or on the day.

Additional Information:  There will be refreshments and a Bar-b-Q at the village hall after the race.

Cancellation:  Should we need to cancel the race due to bad weather then notification will be given via the Truro Canoe Club Facebook by 13:00 Saturday 27th.

 

The turn will be slightly north of Scott’s Quay
